Early Beginnings and Education: 

Alvin's journey in ministry began when he was baptized at the age of 16, sparking a deep desire within him to help others in their faith journey. He pursued his passion by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Western University in 1998, which provided him with a solid understanding of human behavior and the complexities of the human mind.

Realizing the importance of specialized knowledge in youth and family ministries, Alvin pursued a Master of Divinity in Youth and Family Ministries from Tyndale University in 2001. This educational background equipped him with the necessary tools and insights to effectively reach and engage young people in their spiritual growth.

Ministry Experience: 

Alvin's ministry experience spans over two decades and encompasses a diverse range of roles and responsibilities. Since 2000, he has been involved with CBOQ Youth ministries, where he has served as a general manager for several multi-church events. Through his involvement, Alvin has been instrumental in organizing impactful gatherings that bring together young believers from different churches, fostering a sense of unity and collective worship.

In 2017, Alvin took on the role of co-chaplain for the Raptors 905, a professional basketball team affiliated with the Toronto Raptors. This position provided him with a unique platform to connect with athletes and staff, offering spiritual guidance and support within the sports community.

Recognizing the power of technology and its potential to reach a wider audience, Alvin has also been involved in online mentorship and outreach ministries. Through The Mentor Ministry, he has been able to guide individuals in their faith journey remotely, providing wisdom, encouragement, and biblical insights. Additionally, as a member of Fight 4 Freedom, an online outreach initiative, Alvin has actively participated in spreading the message of God's love and hope to a virtual audience.

Alvin has also made significant contributions within his local church, Mimico Baptist Church. From serving as the Chair of the Board of Directors and Church Council to assuming various volunteer roles such as Sunday School teacher, youth leader, and audio-visual coordinator, Alvin's commitment to his church community has been unwavering.

Educational and Personal Growth: 

Driven by a desire for continuous improvement, Alvin has pursued additional education and accreditations to enhance his ministry skills. In 2004, he received ordination from CBOQ under Mimico Baptist Church, affirming his dedication to serving God and his church.

Understanding the importance of coaching and leadership development, Alvin completed the Essentials Program at Coach U in 2013, followed by the Masteries Practitioner course offered by the International Association of Coaching in 2014-15. These certifications equipped him with valuable coaching techniques and tools to effectively guide and mentor others.

Furthermore, Alvin's commitment to fostering cultural sensitivity and understanding led him to complete the Indigenous Canada certificate program through the University of Alberta in 2021. This educational endeavor helped broaden his perspective and deepen his appreciation for the diverse cultures and histories of Indigenous peoples.
